Title (Max 100 Charaters)
A local art museum will be hosting an acclaimed musician this weekend in celebration of Black History Month.
The Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art in Shawnee will be hosting musician Jahruba Lambeth on Saturday, February 25, 2012.
Beginning at 1 p.m., visitors to the museum will be able to hear Lambeth's unique blend of blues, jazz, reggae, traditional African rhythms and a mix of red dirt culture.
Lambeth will likely be performing on the conga drum, djembe, ashiko and bongo drums.
In addition to relishing the unique music, visitors will also be able to enjoy the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art for free.
Museum-goers can see the African art exhibit, which features several masks, artifacts and a large Gbekre Monkey figure.
In addition to the museum performance, Lambeth will be traveling to Shawnee elementary schools to help students learn about other cultures.
For more information on the free event, visit the museum's website.
