Players sent to hospital after team bus collides with semi

SHAWNEE, Okla.—There were some scary moments Saturday afternoon for a local university’s basketball team.

The men’s basketball team from St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee was on its way to a basketball game in Claremore.

However, they didn’t get far before their bus collided with a semi-truck on Highway 177 near I-40.

Ron Waller said, “It took off the whole front end of the bus and people were flying and seats broken, a big mess.”

A few of the players had to be rushed to an area hospital to be treated for various injuries.

However, we know all the players who were taken to the hospital have been released.
